Aia dei Colombi - Wine production in Guardia Sanframondi

decoration

The territory of Sannio is famous for the strength and tenacity of its people: they fought against Romans expansionist aims, holding out for more than 50 years (343 – 290 b.C.), before surrendering to their supremacy. After the Roman Empire fall, this area was invaded by Goths, Longobards, Moorishes and Normans. Today, agriculture represents the key point of economy, culture and scenery. The western part of Sannio, between Matese massif and Taburno, is constituted by a valley (“Valle Telesina”), which is the area with the highest density of grapevines (5.000 hectares of vineyards in about 10 towns).
It is here that “Aia dei Colombi” was created in 2002.
